CONSTRUCTION & DEMOLITION DEBRIS LANDFILL
Our construction and demolition debris landfill is a fully permitted facility that contains an overall disposal footprint of 45 acres. The landfill is operated under Permit Number 493 that was issued by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality in 1986. It is estimated that over 2,000,000 cubic yards of airspace capacity is remaining at the landfill with the active lifespan estimated at more than 10 years. Each load of waste material that is delivered to the landfill is inspected and sorted at the landfill working face. Recyclable materials such as metal, wood, brick, and concrete are removed from the waste stream. The remaining materials are placed and compacted in the landfill and covered with clean soil on a routine basis. Materials that are accepted at the landfill include:
- Construction and demolition debris
- Trees, stumps, and other land clearing debris or vegetative waste
- Marine debris
- Creosote poles and timbers
- Various special wastes
